PACT (Parents And Children Together) is also known as the Oxford Diocesan Council for Social Work Inc. They are a registered charity working to improve life chances for children. The focus of their work is within Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
They are an approved adoption and fostering agency, PACT has a history of finding safe, loving permanent families for some of the 60,000 children in care every year. They particularly look for families for sibling groups, children who are older, of a minority ethnic heritage or who have a disability.
There is a recognised shortage of 10,000 Foster Carers in the UK. Fostering is a hard but very rewarding job. You don’t have to be married to become a Foster Carer, you don’t have to have children of your own but you do need experience of caring for children and you get paid a weekly allowance to care for the child/children. But ultimately you have the opportunity to give a child another chance in life.
