As part of the Parishes Against Gravel Extraction (PAGE) Campaign, Warborough Parish Council is committed to opposing sand and gravel extraction around our villages.
In the latest stage of the campaign, we have written to the Government Office for the South East to oppose the regional targets being placed on Oxfordshire. This regional system increased the quota on Oxfordshire by 17% in recent months, and put the County Council under increasing pressure to find new sites for sand and gravel. Although the regional planning system is due to be abolished by the new government, our objection to the target is still of key importance, as it is not known when the relevant government Bill will be passed.
Oxfordshire County Council have also rejected the quota, and PAGE have submitted their opposition too.
